Academic projects

We have field trips at all levels combining interdisciplinary projects, with the goal that our students achieve meaningful learning experiences; In 7th grade the field trip is “Pampa del Tamarugal”, in grade 8 the “Pacific Route” (Iquique, Arica, Tacna, Lima) and from 1st to 4th grade the “Crossing of the desert”, which includes four different routes, one for each year of Highschool of our students. These academic projects are carried out in the form of a Study Tour, in a Project-Based Learning modality. We seek to strengthen the necessary skills for research, management and the use of information in preparing these student projects.

Their objectives are:

  • Assess the interrelation of environmental, ethnic, cultural, social, emotional, spiritual, ethical and biological aspects between the inhabitants and the environment of the places visited.
  • Know and appreciate different geographical places of historical, cultural and ecological interest.
  • Become aware of individual responsibility in the protection and maintenance of historical sites and various ecological systems, committing to the conservation of the environment.
  • Appreciate and value interdisciplinary work.
  • Select and synthesize information from various sources.
  • Understand the difficulties that arise when organizing this type of study trip.
  • Commit to the group in order to contribute ideas and respect the rules and procedures established for the trip.
  • Assume together with the other members of the community that makes up the tour, that the well-being of the group is the work of all participants.
